We’re looking for a dedicated Humanitarian Support Worker to help individuals and families navigate the path to recovery after disaster strikes. In this role, you’ll provide direct client support through intake, assessment, recovery planning, resource coordination, and community outreach, while also maintaining accurate documentation and supporting recovery operations behind the scenes at Arlington and Lake Stevens Community Resource Centers VOAWW. Joining our disaster relief employment program means being part of a mission-driven team that works alongside local partners to stabilize households, connect people to critical resources, and strengthen long-term community recovery. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, culturally responsive, detail-oriented, and able to balance empathy with strong communication and coordination skills in a fast-paced environment.

This is a project-based position funded through 6/12/2026, with the possibility of extension (depending on funding). This role will be part time (20 hours per week) and will be be hiring 2 candidates into these positions. This role will work onsite performing Disaster Relief Employment work in Snohomish County, WA.

This position is funded through a federal disaster relief grant, so the number of openings is limited and tied to available funding. You’ll work day-to-day at your assigned site, but Career Path Services will be your official employer and will handle your payroll and benefits. Before starting, you’ll complete a simple enrollment process with Career Path Services to get everything set up.

ABOUT THE JOB

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain and organize client files and recovery documentation
  • Prepare reports on disaster recovery services and client outcomes
  • Perform data entry and database management for disaster case tracking
  • Support administrative functions of disaster recovery operations

Client Services:

  • Conduct client intake and assessment for disaster-impacted households
  • Perform outreach to flood-impacted households and businesses
  • Conduct assessments to identify immediate and long-term recovery needs
  • Provide disaster care coordination support to affected individuals and families
  • Develop individualized recovery plans in collaboration with clients
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with program standards
  • Coordinate referrals to additional recovery resources and services

Community Coordination:

  • Collaborate with local agencies, nonprofit organizations, and government partners
  • Participate in disaster recovery meetings and community planning sessions
  • Support community outreach efforts in disaster-affected areas
  • Assist with coordination between various recovery service providers
  • Support communication efforts with disaster-impacted communities

  • Proficiency with case management systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications for accurate data tracking and reporting

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals experiencing trauma and stress
  • Proficiency with computer applications and database systems
  • Bilingual capabilities preferred (English/Spanish or other community languages)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Eligibility
Eligible Participants must also meet the following criteria for this project-based position:

  1. Has been terminated, laid off, or received a notice of termination or layoff; OR
  2. Has been temporarily or permanently laid off as a consequence of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  3. Was self-employed but is now unemployed as a result of the economic impact of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  4. Is a military service member recently discharged or released under other than dishonorable conditions; OR
  5. Is a military spouse who experienced a PCS or ETS in the last 6 months; OR
  6. Up until recently relied on another immediate family member for financial support and no longer has that support; OR
  7. Has been unemployed for longer than 27 weeks.
